Just down the road from HOP East is the Blind Beggar pub where, on the 2nd July 1855, William and Catherine Booth first preached to the marginalised and mean of East London. The Salvation Army was born and so a revolution of evangelism, kindness and social transformation began in the East End. SO MANY PEOPLE ENCOUNTERED AND FOLLOWED JESUS! A true awakening that happened right here.<\/p>
One thing they and other amazing East End women did was transform the way matches were made. They turned it from a deathly industry to a safe one. The Salvation Army opened their own factory just up the road and released their very own brand \u201cLights in Darkest England\u201d.<\/p>
